HOW TO PREPARE UKPO SOUP (HAMBURGER SOUP)

 
Ukpo soup is common amongst the South Eastern part of Nigeria.

The Ukpo seed serves as a thickener, and some persons prefer UKPO to Achi, because it is delicious when prepared.

You can eat this soup with fufu or garri, rice or yam.

UKPO seed contains iodine and it is also known as Hamburger seed.

INGREDIENTS

UKPO SEED

KPOMO
STOCKFISH (Okporoko)
CRAYFISH
FRESH PEPPER
ICE FISH (Optional)
GOAT MEAT

VEGETABLE (Ukazi or Oha)
ONIONS 
SALT

PALM OIL
SEASONING CUBES


PROCEDURES
Season your kpomo, stockfish, ice fish, goat meat, with sliced onion, Salt, fresh pepper and seasoning cubes.
Tip: Don't add another onion while cooking the main soup, because onion and ukpo seed contains iodine.  

Get a clean pot, place on a low heat and add palm oil, add your grinded ukpo and stir for 15 secs.

Add your stock and allow to boil for 20 minutes.

Add your crayfish, allow to boil for 1 minutes

Add your Ukazi and salt. Stir and allow for a minute

Taste for salt 

Your Ukpo Soup is ready
